Lombok Keris Exhibition at Taman Mayura Cakranegara: Festive and Meaningful

CAKRANEGARA (LOMBOKEXPRESS.ID)—The keris exhibition titled “Berajah Ngemunggahang Gegaman Nuswantara” is taking place festively at Taman Mayura, Cakranegara, Lombok, from June 28 to 30, 2024.

Organized by Selaparang Mandalika Keris Lombok, the event features various activities, including a keris exhibition, a keris and SME market, a keris seminar, and traditional art performances.

Lalu Kusnawan, Chairman of the National Secretariat for Keris (SNKI) NTB, stated that this event is an annual collaboration aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of keris. The exhibition showcases a variety of keris styles, including those from Bali, Malay, and Lombok. Kusnawan emphasized that keris is not only a cultural symbol but also a source of livelihood for many artisans. “Keris is a cultural heritage that we can promote through tourism, so it should not fade away. We continue to educate the younger generation about this,” he said.

Anak Agung (AA) Made Jelantik Agung Barayang Wangsa, the ninth descendant of the Cakranegara Kingdom, also expressed his appreciation for the exhibition. He stated that the keris exhibition at Taman Mayura is an important effort to introduce keris as a historical heirloom to the people of NTB. “Keris is a sacred historical heirloom,” said Made Jelantik. He also thanked the organizers for their dedication in holding this exhibition.

Over the three-day period, the exhibition not only showcases various unique keris but also strengthens the synergy between the tourism sector and SMEs, supporting the sustainability of keris craftsmanship in Lombok. (rls)
