NTB Tourism Board Secures Rp6 Billion in Potential Deals at Yogyakarta Business Matching Event

YOGYAKARTA  (LE.ID)– West Nusa Tenggara’s Regional Tourism Promotion Board (BPPD NTB) has generated Rp6 billion (approximately US$370,000) in potential tourism business transactions during a Business Matching event in Yogyakarta, reinforcing confidence in the province’s growing appeal as one of Indonesia’s leading travel destinations.

The achievement reflects strong interest from buyers, tour operators, and travel agencies in tourism products offered by West Nusa Tenggara, particularly the islands of Lombok and Sumbawa.

BPPD NTB Chairman Sahlan M. Saleh said the business matching program serves as a strategic platform to connect tourism stakeholders from West Nusa Tenggara with prospective business partners from across Indonesia.

“The recorded figure represents potential business deals that are expected to materialize following further negotiations and commercial agreements between buyers and sellers,” Sahlan said.

He explained that such business commitments are standard practice in the tourism industry, where travel packages require detailed discussions, product customization, pricing negotiations, and contract finalization before becoming confirmed transactions.

According to Sahlan, market demand for NTB tourism products continues to strengthen, driven not only by Lombok’s established reputation but also by the growing popularity of emerging destinations across Sumbawa Island.

“We continue to see increasing interest in NTB’s tourism products. This indicates that our promotional efforts are delivering positive results and creating greater opportunities to increase visitor arrivals,” he said.

The Business Matching event forms part of BPPD NTB’s broader strategy to expand market access, strengthen partnerships with the travel industry, and improve the competitiveness of West Nusa Tenggara’s tourism sector.

The Rp6 billion in potential transactions adds to a series of successful promotional initiatives undertaken by the tourism board throughout 2026. Earlier this year, BPPD NTB also recorded nearly Rp20 billion in potential tourism transactions during the Bali and Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) 2026, one of Indonesia’s premier international travel trade exhibitions.

The tourism board believes that sustained promotional activities and stronger collaboration with travel industry partners will contribute to higher tourist arrivals, longer average stays, and increased tourism spending, ultimately supporting local economic growth.

Beyond expanding its tourism market, BPPD NTB is also promoting a more balanced distribution of visitors by highlighting destinations beyond Lombok, including Sumbawa, Dompu, and Bima. The strategy is expected to foster more inclusive tourism development while ensuring that economic benefits are shared more evenly across West Nusa Tenggara Province. (has)
